Primaris REIT Acquires Halifax Malls

Update on Ownership of West End Mall FGN

A news story in the publication Real Estate News Exchange on November 20, 2023 indicated the Halifax Shopping Centre and the Annex properties on Mumford Road have been sold to Primaris REIT for $370 million.

Primaris is one of the largest owners and managers of enclosed shopping centres in Canada, and one of the largest owners and operators of retail property across Canada.

The sale was finalized on November 30, 2023 and had already secured approval of the Competition Bureau of Canada.

The Annex property comprises much of the Future Growth Node lands on Mumford Road that have been under discussion and review by HRM since 2020. Understanding what this means for the Cushman Wakefield (OPB) development proposal is now our primary focus.
